I have just read and signed the online petition:

For those out of Ramapo, or for those who aren't familiar with the the Ramapo Drive In. This is a large (now empty) lot in Monsey/Ramapo, near main street, that used to be a drive-in-theatre. Walmart has been looking to build on the property and there has been a lot of mixed responses from the community. People are afraid of what it will bring with it, and also the fact that it will put the heimishe store owners out of business. This petition is another proposal to the Town what they can do with the lot.

But Monsey (Ramapo) already has a Walmart on Route 59 down by the fire station.... so what is this petition against- another walmart opening up?

Yes- they are talking about opening up a SuperWalmart a few miles from the current one.
