Sorry for asking a very simple question. When does one read Megillas Rus chutz laaretz--1st day or 2nd day? Is it done before mincha or a part of mincha? Does it have to be from a scroll?

At our shul we read it second day. Does not have to be from a scroll. my daughter learned it for her bat mitzvah celebration and learned that it could be read from paper, which she in fact, did.

also, we do it at mincha

In the shul's I've been in in the US it is always read before kriyas haTorah of Shacharis (which when Shir ha Shirim and Koheles are also read). A megillah scroll is not required, but may be used as it may for the other megillos and haftorahs.

It's definitely read at Shacharis, not Mincha, before the regular Krias HaTorah. Some read from a real klaf Megillah, others from a printed one.
