I recently went to a wedding and stayed for chuppah and dancing only. There was no shmorg and I didnt stay for the meal. I did not rsvp that I was coming. I also contributed to the shabbos kallah. Must I give a gift? The wedding was super small and the parents and kallah were very aware that I Was there - mother of the kallah even called my mother in law to tell her how much my dancing and simcha contributed to the wedding. Will it be remembered that I came and didnt give a gift? Im sure they dont know that I didnt eat. Knleft before the meal was served.

If you are very close to the family, I think a gift would be appreciated. But that's it.
In any case, a gift is a nice thing to do but never a requirement. Imagine you are very close but absolutely cannot afford to give a penny... But your presence will always be remembered.
When people just come for the simcha, they usually don't bring a gift.
