there seems to be a number of graphic designers on this site and I was wondering if I could get some advice on how to charge.
For example, a barmitzva invitation, can I get an idea from some of you how you work out your fee and what you would charge for something like that?
how about flyers and posters
a poster is basically the same work as doing a flyer, so do you charge the same?
also, when taking off a percentage for a tzedoka organization, how much would you take off?

fees all depend on your market coupled together with your skill. (how good you are). No blanket prices across the globe as each person's demographics are different.
On average however, design goes for between $75-$100/hour.

Queen, how do you calculate in advance how to charge for a job?
like the example I gave of a barmitzva invite.
I think I'm supposed to calculate how long it should take me and go according to that, but the problem is its so hard to know. It really depends on if the client is one of those types that wants a zillion changes or is happy fairly early on, so if it were you, how would you figure it out?

standard is they get one proof, can make all changes, then another proof. any changes after that second proof get charged for (obiously not if the mistake is yours), so you encourage them to tell you all the changes they want in one go, not every day something else.

Ok pleeeeeeaaaase I need some help here.
Just to get an idea so I know I'm not majorly over pricing or under pricing.
How much would you charge for
a) a barmitzva invitation, includes monogram, and inside text
b) CD cover, 2 sides
c) flyers
just to give me a general idea
