DH attends NYU part time but his firm pays for it entirely.
They send me a 1098-T with every box empty except for box 2 with the amount of about $10k.
Is there any reason I need to do anything with it?
This is not the first year he's there and I don't believe they've sent me anything in the past.
Please advise.
Thanks!

Oh, I guess I should mention, ironically he's there studying tax law but I'm not asking him because he knows little to nothing about personal income tax (and I file our taxes) Crying

tuition and fees deduction or education credit. but THEY're paying it..... I wonder why THEY can't get the deduction and why they'd be passing it to you?

SRS or Tova should pop by here and answer this. They'd know.

From my experience (which is limited to my personal experience Smile ), sometimes the 1098 isn't worth much to the larger company, and you may be able to file it as the student. Did your husband pay nothing at all for tuition?

To my knowledge, we pay nothing at all and again, previous years, they didn't send us anything. So am I just ignoring it?
