My son was born last week and although my husband and I had a few names in mind....nothing seems to fit Sad. Also there are so many boys in the family that almost everything has been used before. What are some nice names from the tanach that are classic. Or names that are sweet and gentle
Our name that we liked was akiva but not 100% sure. Also wouldn't mind adding something to that

What do you mean by classic? Most of the classic names are the common ones.

Eliyahu
Pinchus
Alisha
Nachshon
Shimshon
Asher
shaul
BentZion
Azarya
Menashe

you can't name your son the same name as an uncle/cousin that's alive? If you are thinking of a name of a deceased grandfather or great uncle... chances are that there other boys in the family are going to be named after him as well....
I'm not sure what you mean by classic, but here's some boys names...and btw, I like akiva. Maybe you like a name, but can't imagine such a "big name" for a tiny baby, but a nickname would work...

Avraham (avrumi)
yitzchak (yitzi)
yaakov
moshe (moishy)
yosef (yossi)
dovid
chaim
ahron (ari)
eliyahu (eli)
elisha
naftali
eliezer
menachem
mordechai
tzvi
reuvein
shimon
leivy
yehuda
yissachar
asher
binyomin
zev
yisroel
shlomo

Is akiva avraham too much? I liked that combo but my husband wasn't keen.

How about trying it the other way around. Avraham akiva. I've heard aharon akiva. I personally like that combo.

Just so you know Akiva is not from the Tanach. Still a nice name though.

I know it's not but was the name we both liked. I'd like to add a name from tanach.

Akiva's father's name was Yosef. Don't use the name of his father-in-law, Kalba Savua.

Based on suggestions others have made...Noam Akiva or Akiva Yaakov. Possibly Akiva Yehuda, Binyamin Akiva, Akiva Yehoshua, Shmuel Akiva or Akiva Shmuel.

Whatever you choose, Mazal Tov and enjoy your new baby. Please let us know what you chose!

Not weird at all, IMO - I would not have realized they were the same shoresh if you hadn't pointed it out

I love the name Akiva, but am not fond of Akiva Yaakov. Too many k sounds make it sound too harsh, especially since you are not naming for someone. Can you pair Akiva with a softer sounding middle name?
