Celia Surger became tomorrow the rabbi of a "Liberal" (French equivalent of Conservative I would say) shul in Paris. 17 years ago the first one, Pauline Bebe, was ordinated.

Surger's vocation was born "during a Catholic mass". She wanted to do "like the priest, but for the Jews".

13 000 families in France pay to belong to the Liberal community. There are about 15 communities.

Celia always wears a skirt at shul, but "out of conviction/belief", she also wears the talit and kippa.
