Can you afford the second house? Mortgage plus taxes? If so, go for it. I personally would not want a pool. If you are convinced house will go up in value jump on it!

The pool can be a tough decision because on the one hand it is tons of maintenance and very expensive. You probably aren't prepared for what's involved in keeping a pool. But on the other hand, as one poster mentioned how good her kids are at swimming, I totally see the benefit of having a pool, and the relaxing, luxurious ambiance it can provide if it's done up really well (nice patio etc).
So if all things were equal it would be a tougher decision, but it seems like the second house has a lot more pros. Perhaps, at some point in the future, you could put in a pool if you ever regret that part of the decision?
