Looking for ideas, I would prefer something without Deet.

Do those citronella bracelets work? Anyone had a positive experience with them?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

We got this or something like it last summer:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Repe.....61283

It worked pretty well, certainly better than the non-deet chemical options and it smelled a whole lot better (still weird though).

IF thoes bracelets work thay dont last
I tried something from the healthfood store that the guy was practicly swearing by.. it didnt work
Even off with deet doesnt last all day...
I m remembering now .. years ago we used a product calldc avon skin so soft if im rememembering the name correctly... it was a liquid (oil maybe?)that you dabbed on your self...im remembering that it worked
Dont know if it had deet in it

There are products made with picaridin instead of deet, and they don't smell. I don't know how it compares to ones with deet, though. A Google search claims effectiveness at least as good as, possibly even better than, deet.

We tuck 4 Bounce dryer sheets sticking out from under the mattress for nighttime.
And we use Bullfrog deet free sunscreen plus repellent spray during the day.
Our kids tend to get bites and this BH works well.

lavender repels bugs & mosquitoes ...

I checked on-line for a natural recipe

http://wellnessmama.com/2565/h.....pray/

Homemade Bug Spray Instructions

Fill spray bottle (I used 8 ounce) 1/2 full with distilled or boiled water

Add witch hazel to fill almost to the top

Add 1/2 tsp vegetable glycerin if using

Add 30-50 drops of essential oils to desired scent. The more oils you use, the stronger the spray will be. My personal favorite mix is: Rosemary, Clove, Cajeput, Lavender, Cinnamon and Eucalyptus. It works great and smells good too!
