I was wondering what the halacha is involving buying children new clothing for shabbos during the 3 weeks. My daughter has already ripped 2 shabbos dresses so far this summer. I was wondering if I am allowed to purchase new dresses during this time if they are for shabbos. Otherwise I will probably spend a decent amount of money getting the dresses fixed.TIA

I was told I can buy anything until the 9 days (there may be an idea of not saying shehechiyanu, but most don't say it on a dress anyway)

I think the prohibition doesn't begin until Rosh Chodesh Av, unless you're talking about buying something really fancy that might have a question of a shehechiyanu.
