I'm new to using a dishwasher. The only time I use it is after Shabbos cause I use plastic all week. The cycle takes a long time and I usually forget about it-it's really quiet. Is it a problem if I don't unload it and take out the dishes the following Shabbos when I use them?

I regularly unpack my dishwasher on Erev Shabbos. (or ask my husband to do it). It is one of the jobs I cannot stand and push off for as long as possible.

If any water pools on top of the cups (actually the bottoms) in the top rack, it will eventually evaporate but may leave water marks.

If any silverware didn't get thoroughly clean - it happens occasionally - you will learn about it at an inconvenient time.

Similarly, if the dishwasher malfunctions, you won't know until you want to set the table. Mine is generally reliable, but now that it is no longer new, it needs occasional repair and sometimes the detergent cup forgets to open during the cycle.
