They look nice to me. But hey, what do I know?
If you are comfortable in heel of that height, then go for it.
I thought the first pair looked funkier.

Not particularly. But of you like them, and will feel comfortable in them, the why don't you get them?

Nordstrom is referring to those as one of the hottest looks of the season.

they're to go with a skirt similar to this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/.....0513/ and like a kind of fitted black jumper-style dress. and I know both of those aren't really in style but I'm not really able to get a whole new wardrobe right now :-p
btw what shoes ARE in style? (I saw that one link that someone posted- and thank you). I'm just curious. I don't really pay attention to people shoes so much.

I think the Adrienne Vittadini ones could look really good with thick opaque black tights and some funky winter clothes.

Then I'd get them. I'd go for the first pair. The buckle makes them look more stylish imo.

I guess cuz I don't want to feel like people are going to be thinking "ew those are so 10 years ago (or 2 years ago or whatever). I guess I care a little about fitting in somewhat... I really shouldn't though. I guess I should just get what I like and not care.

They come back in style, the strap and rectangular heel...look at what shoes have been shown on the runway at fashion week, very similar.
The rectangular, thick heel definitely, the strap too and velvet! I would go with the first pair, if I would choose from the two.

They seem almost classic, and clunky heels are supposed to be in.
