My sixth grade daughter needs to read a book for a book report. Can anyone please recommend an appropriate Jewish book. Thanks

Does it have to be Jewish.
A Single Shard, but it's not Jewish

That's Me Tzviki Green, or Kids Speak

I remember I loved to read the BY Times about 8th graders running the school newspaper, about the age.

Why don't you look at your local jewish library and see what they have these days? There are much more than I can think of this minute.

A life of grey towers-about an orphanage
Avner gold books- marrano prince, the imposter, the promised child
Exile of crocodile island
The bamboo cradle- about a Chinese girl that was adopted
There's a series of books similar to American girl doll about penina and mindy they're historical fiction for this age
Cherry bim band series about elementary age boys who make a band together

Penina, Mindel, Tova, and Esther, by Miriam Walfish who also wrote The Jewel and the Journey, Into the Fire, and The Stars Will Guide You. I especially like the last two.
Which reminds me of Sara Schleimer's Far From the Place We Call Home
Other books girls this age like:
Books by Eva Vogiel
Nan's Long Journey - Leah Fried
Starlight - Henye Meyer
The Youngest Bride - Menucha Levin
Little Sister - Ruti Tanenold
23 Under One Roof Series - R. Rapaport (ok, maybe 4th gr.+)

Yeah, there are dozens of books out there. Does the school have a library? Is there a local lending library? You're not going to buy a book just for the report, are you?
Hatzlacha.
