Wondering the benefits and drawbacks of a HS dorm versus boarding with a family (not a relative). So far this is what I could come up with. Upside of boarding more supervision (hopefully) less possibility of being influenced by other boys....
Upside of dorming nice for DS who is very social, no one "replacing" me and DH as parents...what else?

Naturalmom5 which situation would be better for an impressionable boy? I would say that he is more of a follower then a leader...

Some boarding parents take advantage of the boarder or don't respect their space etc.
My brother was viewed as an in house babysitter and the washing machine was in his room.
That year was not a good one for him.
He thrived in a dorm a couple of tears later.
Because of his experience, my parents outdoor only let me go to a school with a dorm. I suffered. I needed the family structure and dynamic.
So, it really depends on the child, his personality, his goals and the boarding family's goals and views.
