Ds has no school tomorrow because his school is having a conference day. I called every baby-sitter who ever watched him before and nobody is available. While I know it's not a big deal to miss a day of work occasionally, I'm going to be missing several days next week as ds will be in the hospital for tests, so I prefer not to miss tomorrow. Would anyone want to baby-sit for an adorable 8-year-old with autism?

Thanks, but it's more important for me to work in the morning than the afternoon. My afternoon school is a Jewish school so at least I didn't miss for yom tov; they were closed anyway. In the morning, I'm in a not Jewish school so between missing yom tov, next week with the hospital, and every time my kids have an appointment, I don't want to miss the morning.

Maybe I can watch but I have some errands to do, would he come along on them? Also, what time to what time?

Are you fast enough to keep up with him on errands? Ds runs very fast. Ideally, I would want from 8-4, but if I have to miss the afternoon, it would be from 8-12.

I would be fast enough, but I have my baby with me so I can't risk it. Sorry. I really would have liked to help.

If I was in the area, I would honestly offer my services.
I know what it is like to need help with a difficult child, and no one available (or capable) of watching and keeping up.
Good luck.

Would you care to share where in NY area you are? NY is very big, it makes a difference if your local to me I would do it. I have a little experience with asd kids. Although not sure about 8am.

If you bring him to Lakewood, I'd be happy to have him!

Hi
Im just wondering how youd know who you can trust from a random group of strangers. I also have kids but would be very wary to trust just anyone on imamother to watch my kids.

Can your dh take half a day? Maybe there is drop in childcare somewhere? Can you bring him to work?

I wasn't really expecting anyone to offer, but I figured if someone does, I would first ask how they feel about being jumped on, having their hair pulled, and changing an 8-year-old's diapers. There are very few people in my neighborhood who are willing to baby-sit him for those reasons.

I guess I will take the day off. Nobody who I called last night (after my last post) was able to do it either, and dh found out yesterday he has an inspection at work, so he can't miss.

how did your day go?
sorry you had no luck finding a sitter ~ I would have loved to help out but wasn't in your part of the country today or is that yesterday
as difficult as it could be, all I need is ice cream at the end of a challenging day
