Can anyone enlighten me. What's the difference? If I need new mattresses, what am I better off with?

I have a 4" visco foam topper on a 12" foam mattress (not Tempurpedic). I like it because I can flip the mattress, which you can't do on a pillow top and shouldn't do on a Tempurpedic). I did have a Tempurpedic prior to my current mattress and hated it.

A pillow top usually comes attached to the mattress and will make it more expensive. A foam topper you buy separately and they range in price. The main difference is that since the foam topper is not attached it can move around ( like ours does) . It's kind of annoying but works for us. We got cheap mattresses and put the foam on top and it's super comfortable

I've never had a problem with my topper shifting even with the cover on it. I prefer the cover since it makes it easier to man handle when flipping the mattress and turning the topper. Visco foam is very heavy.
