Is this a shayla for a Rav? They sound different enough to me, but they are from the same shoresh. Is it okay?

Is it really the same name? Is it appropriate to do?

If it's the same shoresh it's not an issue. The problem is when it is the same name.

No problem it's not like Tzvi and Tzivia. If you know what I mean.

I know plenty of people who use the same root, even with similar sounding names and meanings like Eliezer and Elazar.
In the case of Meir and Orah, both the sound and the meaning are quite different. Meir means someone who gives light or just the verb, giving light (third person present); Orah means the actual light itself.

I know a family with a yerucham and a ruchama. A family with a Dan and Daniel in the same family. We had a shaila regarding naming our child a name that was close to my husband's name and we were told. Different names are different names you can even name a child A if a father's name is AB.

If it's not the same name, who cares.
Tzvi is NOT Tzivia
I know a family with a Yehuda and Yehudis. Not the same name, although similar sounding.
I also DO know a non-frum family that somehow named both of thierr daughters "Devora" and called them different English names. that WAS a problem and the second daughter had to change her name when she became frum.

In my family we have a nechama, menacham and nachum The menachem and nachum were named after people and my father just wanted a "comfort" so he gave me the middle name nechama.
