I want to make a necklace for my dd and I want her to be in fashion. Should I buy a chain with a clasp or will it break?

How old is she?
If she is very young, or the type to be rough on her belongings, make it as easy as possible to take on/off.
I'm not sure what items are "in fashion" for small children, but I'm pretty sure broken jewelry isn't one of them.
