I might have to give the name fraidel after someone but don't like that name or fraidy either. Any ideas on cute nicknames?

Otherwise, Freddie.

What about Simcha, Aliza, Gila, Rina, Ditza, or Chedva. All Hebrew translations.

I don't think so but there's no objective answer for that. It's not exactly the same but nicknames are often a little different

Even if I give another name with the same meaning I would still have to give the original name. I actually like frayda better than fraidel maybe I would be able to use that with another name and decide what to call the baby if and wen the time comes.

I just named my daughter Simcha for my grandmother who was Frayda.
Neither my Bubby nor anyone else in the family expected anyone to use the Yiddish name.

We just named our daughter fraidy!
We were naming after a grandmother "fraida" but I really didn't go for the name especially I didn't know anyone with the name, we added a name that I liked, but after they named her in shul I felt a very calm feeling about the name and we call her fraidy and I love it!!!

If you like Frayda better, it makes sense to me to use it. Isn't Fraidel the nickname anyway? ie, Shaindel for Shaina, etc.?

Yes Fraidel is a nickname but it got its own name.

This time the Yiddish is definitely cuter than the Hebrew!

I like Fraidel best, then Fraida. Don't like most y nicknames as I'm not used to them in Yiddish.
