Willow trees need lots of water. They are very aggressive about getting it, and have been known to wrap their roots around underground water pipes, blocking off the supply and costing thousands of dollars to untangle. If you can plant your willow on the bank of a river or stream, that's great. It's not always a good choice in a suburban backyard. I don't know where you live or what your water supply is like, but this is something to consider.

Bamboo is also a plant to avoid in suburban areas. Both aravos plants and bamboo can undermine the foundation of a house.
