Check out lord and Taylor online evening dresses. Beautiful stuff. Often on sale (especially around July 4). May need altering but still worth it.

You'd probably do really well at exquisite on 53 and new Utrecht.
They had gorgeous stuff this season and all stores have sales now so you can technically get expensive clothes for cheap.

Fashion spot Lakewood, but not cheap. Miri, not cheap. Brooklyn southwest, reasonable compared to the others.
There are so many places, I haven't made a simcha yet so don't know. It's just offer what I think.
Maybe more lakewooders can help

u can try Esti's. I got there for $500 but they have for less im pretty sure. Ask for help there, they show you and pick out things for you in your price range.

There's a gown/dressy dress store in the plaza of iScream Kids. Never went in there, but the stuff in the window is stunning.
I've gotten nice things in Miri, but I can't believe how crazy the prices are. For my last bar mitzvah, I got a dress from Fashion Island (brooklyn) , the upstairs store.
