What is considered social media? Imamother? Can someone Explain?
(In reference. To the news about busting the s@x ring. They warn about being on social media)
I'm trying to help y teen understand what is social media as opposed to just watching a show.
My take is anything that you can communicate online is social media. Correct?

I would agree, though I suspect that most people mean sites that are specifically meant to be person-to-person communication like facebook, Twitter, What'sApp and so on. Wikipedia defines the term as " computer-mediated technologies that facilitate the creation and sharing of information, ideas, career interests and other forms of expression via virtual communities and networks. " If I knew what all that hifalutin' gobbledegook meant in words of two syllables or fewer, I might know for sure, but it seems to me that imamother fits the description.

Social media covers any socializing done through cyberspace. So yes, Facebook and Instagram may be the big names, but Imamother falls in the spectrum, too. You can definitely meet unsavory people here although for the most part it seems like mods and posters who report do a good job and creeps are generally found and banned.
