Any suggestions for boy appropriate trips involving water that we could do on Friday afternoon? We save the beaches for early evenings and I need something similar yet appropriate for the afternoon. We are not in the position to rent a pool.

Rent boats right by lake carasaljo.
Have a family ball game with sprinklers strategically placed
If you have a swing set, my boys used to place a kiddie pool under the slide. Have a hose running water from top and instant water slide.

My boys absolute favorite thing to do is dig for shark teeth and other fossils in Big Brook creak in Colts neck. Its about a half hour away, so you have to be willing to drive, but so worth the trip! We've found some really cool shark teeth so far this summer.

go down cedarbridge avenue south until you hit the mataloking? bridge. you can see boats sailing
