Window glass gives zero protection.

Window glass gives zero protection if you want to directly view the sun. Read the NASA link. Learn something.

Why? There is no magic, it's simply science. You don't usually look directly at the sun when you are outside do you?

Read what Nasa has to say.

I just want to point out that the NASA website addresses safety concerns only for those who want to view it. It doesn't address the question of keeping safe if you don't plan to view it, I.e. keeping your window shades open, or being outside and mistakenly glancing in the direction of the sun - which a lot of websites have created a hype over ("Shut your window shades!!")

Well it was pretty darn perfect.

Now that totality is over the radio is saying there are traffic jams leaving the path of totality.

Also keep in mind Marina

And all that you eat
And everyone you meet
And all that you slight
And everyone you fight

And all that is now
And all that is gone
And all that's to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon.

This is what I am worrying about re my DD. She will be visiting a friend near Nashville TN (in the totality zone) tomorrow and they plan on attending some sort of mass viewing event. The friend supposedly has procured glasses but I am also wary of their effectiveness. Nothing I can do about it except share my concern with her and hope for the best. Sad

So DD is fine, b"h. No traffic leaving the viewing event either, thankfully.
I think this is definitely going to be remembered as one of the highlights of her US trip this summer. Funny thing is it was pure coincidence that she happened to be in Nashville davka on this date. She had no idea about the eclipse when she was planning her trip back in May.

DTSOM=Dark Side of The Moon, an album by Pink Floyd.

Our totality was around 2 minutes. It was amazing seeing Venus and Saturn at 10am. The temperature drop was about 20 degrees.

I live in the path of totality. It was estimated that my county would attract well over 100k tourists. Once the eclipse was over many of those tourists are fleeing at the same time causing traffic problems.
