I'm trying to help out with a community gemach and I need ideas/advice from people with experience.
The basic issue is that the people who own the gemach really want to keep it open, and it does have a small but reliable clientele, but the equipment is all fairly old.
The solution seems to be to take the gemach in a somewhat new direction and reach out to new communities, while also keeping the old equipment that's most frequently used.
If you ran/run a successful gemach - how did you decide what things to get for the gemach? How do you know what the community most needs? And how did you publicize the gemach?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
