Or- how many people does one chicken serve?

(One may ask- how long is a piece of string? Or- how many pieces are there in a birthday cake?)

Anyway back to the chicken question, the other thread piqued my interest and I found these

My guess is we may be comparing broiler-fryers with roasters with boilers and they are completely different sizes, see

How big are the chickens where you live?

The 2nd link you posted says a whole chicken feeds 4.
If I’m making chicken on a Tuesday night with one veg and one carb as sides, and that’s the whole meal, I agree.
But on shabbos, after challah, fish with dips/ salads, soup, and now lots of sides plus often another protein.... no way a chicken only feeds 4. I’d say 8 if I have meat also or young kids- or 6 if I don’t. And I’d still end up with leftovers.

I thought this was going to be an old joke.

It's about a henway.

What's a henway?

A hen weighs about 3 to 4 pounds. LOL

I like to buy small chickens and they serve 4. I have been to a meal where they served 1 chicken for 6 people and it was not enough. Obviously we didn’t leave starving as there was other stuff, but I would have preferred more chicken rather than filling up on Challah.
