I hope this post is ok... I just wanted fellow imamothers to know that the kitchenaid professional series mixer is on sale from amazon for $249 after rebate. it usually goes for $500, so this is a great price. also if you sign up for the amazon credit card, you get an additional $25 or $30 off.
if you want to check it out, please use the amazon link from the site. if yuo don't see it in an ad box, if you go to the "forum" page, amazon.com sponsors the children's health forum.

Sorry for going off on a tangent, BUT
Isn't the Bosch far superior for Challah?

well I don't know because I don't have either, but this is the strongest kitchenaid model so how much worse can it be? the bosch is at least $100 more, too.
I guess it remains to be seen how well it fares...

my mother always used a bosch yet my mil always used a kitchen aid so my dh wants a kitchen aid. no point in arguing over such a trivial issue.

Does your dh actually cook/bake? Will he use it?
In any case, I'm sure they are both excellent and I wouldn't make a fuss about it either.

no. my dh doesn't but his mom does a great job though so I think that both machines are probably great. my friend has the kitchen aid but a smaller one so she isn't too happy. she says had she had the bigger one it'd be easier to bake challos in it.
