vitti: pet form of Vita
Vita is a Judeo-Spanish/Judeo-Italian name that got integrated into Yiddish too... used just like Chaya, often in combo like Chaya Vita, by the way.

When I think of Vita, I think of it as upper-crust English, because of Vita Sackville-West.
Ruchel, I couldn't get those links to work.

My son is sometimes called Vity as a nickname for Dovid. He is also known at school as Dovidy. He likes it and tells people it's his name. As a side note,he thinks his full name is Dovidy Moshe and I eat kosher S__.
(Amother because I don't think this is common and people may know who I am)

I know two people named Vita but they're called Vitty. I think it's a cute original name.

I know this is a majorly old thread, and maybe I should just start a new one, but does anyone know if Vitzu (pronounced Vitzoo) would be the same kind of name? I am trying to find out the source of the name of a long long deceased relative and nobody knows...
And if she was called Vitzu does that mean it was her name or a nickname to Chava or s/t?
Thank you!
