Welcome to Brooklyn!
I usually had no problem finding parking on the street alongside the zoo but you do have to parallel park and I can totally relate if that's a struggle for you!! I don't recall there being any suburban type parking lot but I was there last years ago so maybe fellow Brooklyn'ers can chime in if anything has changed....
As far as bringing toddlers along it's very toddler friendly. Especially the farm/petting zoo part where you can feed the farm animals.
Enjoy!!

The zoo has no official parking, you'd have to find parking on the street.

Prospect Park Zoo is perfect for little kids! Bring along lunch and you can eat them by the tables- sometimes there are peacocks there waiting for leftovers.

The Prospect Park zoo is nice and I've never had a very difficult time parking. Certainly not relative to other attractions in NYC which are usually much harder. It might take a couple of passes before you see it or someone moves out, but something usually opens up along the Flatbush avenue where the zoo entrance is. You might need to walk down the road a little but it's peaceful there. It's a great zoo for little kids because the way it's set up there isn't tons of walking and each area is pretty self contained so it's not hard to keep track of little explorers.

I once drove to the aquarium I think on a summer Sunday afternoon and the parking lot was full so I had to park on the street. On a less busy time like a weekday morning there shouldn't be an issue just wanted to bring that possibility to your attention.
Enjoy!

staten island zoo has very easy street parking if you're ok walking a block or two
if it's just toddlers take them to a local park - brooklyn has lots!

Thanks guys. I'm walking down 13th w the kids. My kids r sitting on the sidewalk under the canopy of the grocery on 13th and 42nd, I let them get every candy they wanted because the whole store is kosher, came to like 20 dollars and they are as happy as toddlers can possibly be. Lol.

I'm pretty sure the Staten Island zoo has a parking lot right across the street from one of the entrances.

yeah thats how kids are- expensive, exotic trips are often not worth it.

the dollar store- is often the most exciting and budget-friendsly trip for kids that age!

enjoy!!!
