How many days away? Weekend or weekday or both?

I think the easiest thing is to use packing cubes. Everybody gets one and then when you get to where you are staying everyone just takes theirs and puts it in a drawer. Bring a pop up hamper for laundry, and it's all relatively painless.

Go to the dollar store and get a couple of boxes of one gallon storage bags. Put a complete outfit in each bag and put a bathing suit in with the pajamas. While you are at the dollar store, get 5 toothbrushes and holders. Also, get each kid a tote bag and fill it with dollar store crayons, coloring books and stickers, barf bags, and plastic sun glasses and maybe a snack or 2.
Roll clothes instead of folding to keep them from getting wrinkles. Dollar store also has sun hats, flip flops, and medicine holders.

I packed recently for a trip.
Each child had their own ziploc bag of socks, own underwear....
was much easier finding everything.
Put each child’s bags into a drawer and was done.
Enjoy your vacation!

1. Use a detailed list for each child and check off as you go.
2. Finish packing for one child before starting on the next. Otherwise it's very easy to lose track of what you did.

Just did this...
I have lightweight duffel bags for my kids, each in their own color. They each get a list of what they need to pack and put it in their duffel bag. Younger kids need help. Older kids do it themselves. Depending on the child, I may review their list/bag with them to be sure they didn't forget anything.
Also, minimize! We are away right now and inevitably we use 1/2 to 2/3 of what we pack.
This will change if you can do laundry and also if you're driving versus flying.
If flying, I put multiple duffel bags into a large suitcase to save on checked baggage.

Wow amazing tips Imas. Thank you! Love the individual duffel bag idea! And putting it in a large suitcase so I can check it in like that. Fantastic thanks

Agree with minimizing. And one piece clothes like dresses also make packing and returning easier too.
