In truth, I appreciate reading the news from New York. It gives me updates and insights into the lives of my friends and family whom remain over there, and it allows me to celebrate, or worry, with all you sisters over the sea.

I live in Lakewood. Technically, I'm not eligible to join a NY forum, but there's so much overlap- shopping, politics, etc.

I think there should be a private forum for Brooklyn altogether, not just for COVID, since so many imamothers seem to think that there are no Jews living anywhere else. Would a mother in Chicago post “ where can I get a good dentist who takes United Healthcare” and leave it at that without saying “West Rogers Park or Skokie preferred”?

Yes. There are basically private threads for New Yorkers now, it's just that they're stealth private threads, where you think it's about something relevant to everyone and then people are like "we're talking about Brooklyn, go away."

So let's just make it official. It's a lot less offensive to have a thread exist in a private forum, than to put it in a public forum and just be rude to anybody whose opinion you didn't want to hear.

(not saying all posters from NYC do that, of course. but it sometimes happens, so for those few posters who really want an all-NYC thread, let's make it happen. officially. nicely.)

I voted No because it's important for imamothers in other locations to know what happens here in NY.

What is happening now with anti-Semitism from the governor reflects to other communities elsewhere and everyone should be aware and keep their eyes open.

As someone who doesn't live in New York, I find it interesting to hear what New Yorkers have to say about their situation. I have to say that I disagree with most of it, but it's important to know what people are thinking and why.
