In Israel you can wear whatever you want. Most people don't know what it is. My nephew's babysitter wore a green dress with xmas trees on it. Why not. They sell Xmas decorating for succos and people love it. We joke in our family about the succa zeidy with the red suit

In the US though a velvet dress with a taffeta bow is pretty much the quintessential x-mas dress

Lol I literally asked everyone to weigh in! I ordered them (prior to asking) so I'll see how they look on when they come. I also really loved a few dresses I found on dillards, and might go with one of them. (Green dresses are free return so I'm not invested. Dillards is $10 for returns so I'm waiting before I order)

I live near a Dillards. It's basically a classier Macys and more old fashioned than Nordstrom's. I think you'll find some great pieces from them. Mazal tov and good luck

Hi, all. Gut voch! So I found a bunch a great dresses on dillards and Janie and jack. Showed my 8 year old dd...and she says that her favorite is the green dress I showed her last week. Go figure. Lol. I think I'm going with this dress from Janie and jack, but what do I do for tights?

not trying to make trouble OP but honestly if she loves the green dress so much I would just get it for her. maybe switch the sash like some have suggested, if it makes you happier and she likes it the same... it's not like it's green and red--and your simcha is in Feb not Dec right?
