I have a capsule wardrobe.
I dress professionally at work, and wear black, navy and jewel toned colors daily. I find myself wearing the same clothing on Shabbos, with different accessories. (ie: scarf, jewelry, or shoes)
If there is a feminine-looking sweater in a soft color or a weekday dress I wear that dh compliments/ notices, I save that for shabbos.
I wear a robe on Friday night and LOVE not wearing my wig on Shabbos. If I go to shul, I do put on a wig, however.

I usually have separate tops and dresses for shabbos, but skirts I use for both, although I'd rather have separate skirts for Shabbos. but I don't think they would look different. How is a nice weekday skirt different than a shabbos skirt?

It's however you decide to differentiate them.

I largely dress the same all week due to work. I have a different pair of earrings for shabbos.

No what you said about clothing being fancier or hard to wash. I added the other part. I should have made that clearer

I wear dresses on Shabbos. Tailored dresses with zippers down the back. Work was skirt and blouse or sweater, since COVID I wear scrubs. Shoprite is a Jean skirt.

I always believed that one should have clothes set aside just for Shabbat, even if that is just one or two outfits, but discovered to my amazement that some very frum people don't do this. They may wear exactly the same things all week, or they may dress up the same clothes with fancier jewelry and a fancier sheitel on Shabbat. I find this shocking. | I totally agree with you.
I think (and know) that it's very very wrong to wear the exact same thing for Shabbos like on a weekday. You can have the same exact skirt x2, however, one should be set aside for Shabbos and it should not be worn on a weekday. We get extra credit for dressing up for Shabbos and buying special clothing for Shabbos. They should not be mixed together. Shabbos is more choshuv than a wedding. Nobody I know, wears their wedding dresses for weekday.
Shabbat Shalom!
