Wow, these things are expensive!! I looked into pricing for this, and I'm shocked that this became a staple at kiddushim these days.

I agree. I wanted to buy one as a surprise for my son this past Shabbos in honor of his birthday , but decided against it when I saw the prices. I was ready to spend $100, but you get a tiny thing for $100.

You can build your own
I did a cheese board on Shavuot with crackers, olives, different cheese on a wood cutting board
You can add fillers so it’s not ALL meat
It seems harder than it really is.

A nice size board costs 350-450... With that kind of money, I'd rather have real meat, not dried out, break-your- teeth and pickled/smoked meat!!!

I do it myself.
Slice salami bullet and cut pastrami deli in strips.
Paint with 1/2 duck sauce 1/2 bbq sauce.
Bake until crispy.
Bake some type of turkey deli until crisp.
Buy some beef jerky’s
Take wooden cutting board
Small Bowls of pickles, olives, mustard.
Add The cooked deli and beef jerky
Some fresh deli meat. Like corn beef or turkey breast
Add some melba toast.
And you have a show stopping delicious meat board.
I also sometimes add Frank’s n blanks or baked sliced sausages (or even tiny slices of hot dogs baked in sauce)
