Are things going to be open or closed??
I am hoping to get a shabbos robe on friday, or should I try to go thursday when we arrive?
Also I need to get matzah, as they ran out in my community..

Stores will be open, probably from 11 am - about 3 PM. Groceries are genrally open until about 1-2 hrs. before the zman. Friedman's and Kollel open until 5 pm I'm pretty sure.

Aw, I thought someone was being an angel & volunteering to run errands at the stores on Friday. If today's shopping was any indication, I would say the earlier you shop the better. It took me 90 minutes to pick up 2 items in two stores next to each other today.

I would advise u to try and buy stuff thursday...but the stores should be open friday....last yr. I bought my son shoes erev peasach...it was a breeze no lines...but a robe..u might need to go to more then one store

ok I am staying on 53rd St, are there things w/in walking distance??
I am fairly petite, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

mm, you are staying in the 'heart' of boro park. everything is within walking distance.
there's a thread somewhere re: robes where most robe stores in bp are listed.
