I never skip breakfast. I eat first thing in the morning, or else I get dizzy. I don't drink coffee.

That must be hard.
Maybe taking a nap will help.

Thank you.
What do you mean by others desires?

You said you've been "conforming and people pleasing" all your life.

The more you figure out where taking a stand truly helps you be more your best self, the less you may be tempted to take a stand on things that don't help you be your best self.

Which category your decision today fits into isn't for anyone else to decide but you. Hopefully with the guidance of someone wise you can trust to have your true best interest, as we all can sometimes get swayed by the yetzer hara. But deep down, we know.

You sound like you’re a great teacher.
(If you still teach, that is 😉)

I made it until 2pm (its 11:15 here now). By then my headache was edging toward a migraine and our rav told me that on a nidche fast, its fine to break it then. I only drank but about 2 hours later my headache was still awful so I ate a proper meal and then the headache thankfully left and did not turn into a raging haedahe.

This day is making me feel angry.
I’ve been conforming and people pleasing all my life and something snapped in me last year.
So today is a full day of doing what I’m being told what to do.
Only it isn’t.
Because I broke my fast after chatzos.
I fast easily but I just couldn’t take the pressure.

I totally hear where you're coming from. If I hadn't gotten a heter not to fast today I'd be pretty angry as well.
(I don't fast well.)
Yom Kippur will be easier iyh.

Tired: our bedroom has no a/c, it was 90 degrees in there, and I couldn't sleep all night.

Antsy: from sleeping and sitting on a yoga mat I'm noticing how filthy the floors are because the person who usually vacuums hasn't done so in three weeks. And the laundry hampers are overflowing.

Grungy and hungry: Duh.

Chapped: No lip balm for the second day in a row.

Worried: about the situation in Israel.

Grateful: for the technology that brings me suitable yet interesting Tisha B'av content that I can listen to sitting barefoot in climate-appropriate clothing in my own home and not have to dress in public-appropriate clothing to attend lectures in shul and feel self-conscious about my unwashed and untoothbrushed state.

Wondering: How I managed Tisha B'av and YK when my children were small.

Disconsolate: that the weather forecast is for fierce sun and heat all of next week so no relief in sight.

Amused: at myself. What did I expect, after all? It's mid-August.

Hopeful: that this will be the last sad Tisha B'av and that next year it will be a Yom Tov.

Skeptical: about this happening in my lifetime.

Hopeful: That I'm wrong about that.

Ask my grumpy kids, they'll wonder what you're smoking.

But seriously, if you share a bit more, you'll probably get lots of validation, and maybe some good stories. Why not?

I am fasting all day until nighttime. I'm usually a good faster B"H and today so far is no exception. But this year there's a twist. I sat on the floor for the first time since sitting shiva for my husband last November. It was terribly emotional and personal, more than ever before. I live alone so I'm in solitude today although I don't feel lonely because I'm listening to and watching shiurim all day.

You asked me a question.
Was I supposed to lie?

I’m sorry if I didn’t get the memo.
