I think drinking 8 cups of water will be one of those things that get proven to be a myth or placebo effect in the future. Drink when you are thirsty, don't drink when you aren't.

Honestly? I try for 3-5 cups in winter, 5-7 in summer. I try to eat foods with water in them because I find my body absorbs it better. When I had a kidney stone last spring I found I needed to constantly drink to get clear urine. Some people find it easier to gulp down water than others. Do your best. When you feel hungry try water first, then food (we often confuse thirst for hunger). But yes. We need water. 80% of our body is water.

I like eating too much so I don't like drinking because then it fills me and I can't eat. But when I drink properly I think for me that's 5-6 cups a day then I definitely feel so much better and more energetic and therefore happier!

also more drinking means more going to the bathroom which is so inconvenient and a bother - any advice with this?

I drink loads of water and don't measure how much exactly. It's my main drink, followed by black, unsweetened instant coffee. I used to like fruit juices in the past but somehow that stopped years ago and I can't stand them any more. Occasionally I'll drink milk, maybe once a week.

Barely drank- a sip here and there- till I had a horrible kidney stone experience. Been drinking 8-10 cups a day ever since....

I keep a 20 oz cup at my desk I fill it at least 3 times a day. A straw and ice cold water make a big difference in how much I can drink.

I also have a few coffees and teas mixed in.

I voted other. Because the highest I could have voted is 8-10 cups. UM.
I drink a pool. A pond. A lake. All 7 oceans.

And coffees? Forget it. Take the amount of ounces of water I drink, times it by itself 34,699 times, solve for pi, subtract 12 and add 200.

Realistically, probably about 100-120 ounces of water and 3 cups of coffee
