How long does it take your husband to do a bedika and how big is your house/apt?

And how long in your car?

My husband has OCD so it takes him close to two hours to do our small three bedroom apt. Never heard of doing the car though

This is actually why I was asking. I sometimes struggle to know when it’s OCD when it’s “normal”.

We do have a 4 BR home. But he’s still going and it’s 12:30 here. And I did a few rooms!

We have 3 floors, took about an hour. Didn’t do bedika in the cars. My car is new and we haven’t had any food in it. Don’t know the deal with my husband’s car.
I ended up throwing out a stroller and a bunch of broken toys while waiting for my husband to be ready.

Please read the following instructions so that you do not have any problems during בדיקת חמץ:

A lady calls the Rabbi at 10 pm Erev Pesach.
Wife: "Rabbi!, we scattered ten pieces of bread around the house, and my husband only found nine of them. What should we do?"
Rabbi: Is the bread the size of kezayis
Wife: Yes.
Rabbi: So he has to find it!!
At midnight, she calls again.
Wife: Rabbi!, my husband has already dismantled all the closets, taken out the rugs, turned over the furniture, and nothing. He can not find the tenth piece of chometz!
Rabbi: There's nothing to do. He must search until he finds it.
2:00 am she calls again.
Wife: Dear Rabbi, we are all tired. My husband has searched 702 times as a gematria of Shabbos, searched on the roof, opened the plumbing, everything, and still has not found it. What can we do?
Rabbi: If it's a kazayis, there is no choice. He has to find it!
Wife: Can I at least give him a hint?

🤣🤣 Two completely unconnected people sent this to me today.

It takes my husband a while . We have a big house. He does the cars too.
Lately he gives all the kids flashlights and they search too. It cuts down on how long it takes him. Used to be much longer.
He's absolutely not OCD.

About half hour? I have a decent sized house. We don’t do our cars, I didn’t know that was a thing.

Can I teach you a halacha?

If when you cleaned (I think within a month of pesach, but could be earlier too ask your LOR) you were being bodek, THAT WAS YOUR BEDIKAS CHAMETZ.

Rav Shlomo zalman aurbach zatzal would just leave a small area uncleaned and unchecked for leil bedikas chametz and do it then.

That's what we do. When I clean the house I do it with adequate lighting and it's a bedikah. Leil bedikas chometz we check certain closets/drawers and that's it.

Oh and the chametz zone
