DH got watch, menorah, becher, tallis/tefillin bag with kittel, and set shas. Our first sukkos married, my father took him to silver store to choose esrog pushke.

He did not get machzorim or siddur or megilla.

We did the diamond necklace at wedding and earrings before that. Others do the opposite way

I forgot about the candlesticks, thanks. I mean, I knew we have to give them but forgot just now.

My son was engaged right before rosh hashana and had lechaim and tenoyim before succos

So yes in one month she got diamond braclet ring and watch plus machzorim and shabbos kalla flowers. That was a whirlwind of presents

Right so I gave it before and when I was a kalla I got it before.

But I realized that many people in the satmar circle still do it the other way around. Many of my satmar friends or neighbors were surpised when I said im giving necklace by wedding. I thought most people do it that way by now

I'm thinking of giving an evening bag or a cosmetic case as a b-day gift. Can anyone link this fashion-unsavvy future MIL to evening bags or cosmetic cases that would be appropriate for a young (married) woman?
