Brownies:
1 2/3 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup oil or 1 1/2 stick margarine
2 tbspn water
2 large eggs
2 tspn vanilla extract
1 1/3 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup baking cocoa
1/2 tspn baking pwder
1/4 tspn salt
3/4 cup chopped nuts (optional- I used walnuts- heavenly!)

Bake at 350 in a 9x13 pan. Mix the sugar, oil, water. Then add the eggs and vanilla extract. then add the flour and cocoa ( I just put it in any old way- but I always do the sugar, eggs, and oil together). The instructions say to bake 18-25 minutes- mine had to bake a whole lot longer - try 45 minutes. I used a toothpick to see when it was ready.

Chocolate lover's frosting:
this made a lot of frosting. I think next time I won't even bother with it b/c it's very fattening.
3 cups sifted pwder sugar (I used confectioner sugar)
2/3 cup baking cocoa
1/2 cup margarine
5-6 tbspn milk ( I used rice milk to keep it pareve)
1 tspn vanilla

mix 1 cup sugar +cocoa+margarine+2 tbspn milk+ vanilla. Mix until creamy. Then beat in rest of ingredients. (again, I mixed it together in any old order).

Enjoy! tell me if you liked them!

it really is yum - didn't kow ot was from the cocoa box, but I've been making it for years. It's really fudgy and chewy - duncan hines texture - but much richer.

I just made this with the oil, it was heaven.
I made 2 9x13 pans cuz it was so easy and I figured it would go quick
mine baked around 25 minutes, it felt raw on top but the toothpick came out clean, and when I cut it, it was yum and fudgey.
I used a shallow 9x13 pan, which was good cuz it's very thin.
I could've put the double together in an 11x16 cookie sheet, oh well, next time

I've been making this ever since you posted this recipe, and it's absolutely delicious.

But the last two times I made it, the middle of the cake fell in and the cake barely grew. I put in all the right ingredients.

Why does this happen?

all I know is that when I made them (one time so far) it had to bake a LONG time. But I made them with walnuts.

I've also been making it since the first time I tried it! DH won't let me try anything else! But I haven't had any problems- I've been baking it for 18 minutes and even with walnuts.

I finally made them! They are really great. excellent texture. I put walnuts in. I baked it for 20 min, in a 9x13 pan. They came out a bit thin. I may try a 7x11 brownie pan next time.

OK, so I made these over sukkos, and have no clue what I did wrong, but htey came out horribly, my husband asked why I made Pesach brownies. I follwed the recipe exactly, I used earth's best buttery sticks instead of the oil/margerine- . I also ommitted the nuts, which were optional. any ideas? could it have been the margerine substuitute?I always use it when a recipe calls for margerine and never had any problems. oh I laso did not make the frosting , could that be it?

no. they are just fine without the frosting. I would put my bets on the margarine substitute.
Oil works fine with the recipe.

I use disposable pans all the time; sometimes it's delicious, but other times it flops. I can't figure out why.

I always use disposable, we moved and I am too lazy to unpack anything for the kitchen, especially bec I am hoping to redo it soon. But I have never had a problem using a disposable pan while baking/cooking.
