I'm a fully licensed therapist with 10 years of clinical experience, but all of my experience is with non-Jews (from internship through private practice). My supervisors have given me great feedback, and my clients told my supervisors good things too. I sent an application to Relief twice (once 5 years ago and once 1 year ago) but they never called or contacted me about it. I even take insurance! What do I need to do to get "discovered?"

If you accept insurance there are many of us who are looking. People here are always posting reviews!

Maybe post an ad in your local Jewish paper? Relief only goes by other’s recommendations. I’ve spoke with them

Wow! In which states are you licensed? Do you see patients remotely?

NJ and NY, and yes my clients are remote as long as they're in those states.

I wrote articles in a Jewish magazine years ago, did it for a year. Even had one of my articles put in a big name magazine. But no leads.

I'm not willing to do Instagram and Youtube, just not comfortable putting videos of myself online.

The sad part is that I'm not the only one. I have other therapist friends with their own specialties, taking insurance, and also licensed in NJ and NY- and they also struggle to "break-in." To us, it seems like the main way to get Jewish clients is to be recommended by Relief or others in the community. But they also had no response at all from Relief.

Thank you, I've been there for as long as I'm licensed... not 1 client (yet).

Have you spoken to a variety of established therapists, to find out how they got their start?

Can you post a bit more about yourself here? I am looking for someone who takes insurance and I know others are also. Which insurances do you take and which modalities do you practice?

Ask this question to existing successful therapists in the community.
This can help in two ways. 1) They can help show you a path that’s already been successful. 2) (I know this to be the case in other businesses and assume the same is the case with the therapy business.) People use the vendors they know personally and the ones that are known to be active in this capacity. So therapists (and people in general) should get to know you as a therapist. Then if they think you’re good they will refer people to you when it’s relevant. Sending in a paper is not going to do it.

Can you start your own referral organization?
Can you touch base with other hotlines? I know there is SPARKS for PPD, Amudim, and several others
Can you do some hours in a frum clinic? There are many therapists who do this, and I guess this is the reason
