What's the best way to get to the Rebbe's Ohel if I don't have a car? I'm in Brooklyn.
Is there a bus/van that goes from Brooklyn?
Is it safe to take public transportation from Brooklyn?

In the past, there was a daily bus for a fee from 770.
Also, I've travelled from grand central (having come into NYC into Grand Central) via subway/bus. Ultimately, I'd need to get onto the Q84. I would say if you're on it in the morning/day, it's fine. Sunday morning, even better....full of urban Queens churchladies going to church. I can't say I'd want to be going from the big subway station/bus depot in Jamaica Center to Cambria Hts in public transport in the evening or after dark.
And if you don't look from around those parts, as you approach Jamaica Center on the subway, folks will assume you're trying to get the AirTrain to the airport and are lost...and try to help you (legitimately).

One more suggestion.....maybe contact the website of the Rebbe's Ohel and ask if there is a way to connect with someone coming from your area who would be willing to take along a passenger......So you can avoid public transportation.
