I was nervous to open this and see a 20 year old remembering things that happened yesterday. At least you must be around my age or older, BY high school!
Which one was moo and brew? on Main closer to Union, right? That became something of a fruit store?
And I can't remember the name of the supermarket in the minimall on the corner of Main and Union, do you? Where Blockbuster was?
Was your story hour with Mrs. Young?

I didn’t go to BY high school but when I was in elementary school the high school was on the second floor. By the time I was in high school it was shevach on Main Street and Dr Blau was the principal.
I’m 51! I don’t live in queens anymore. For many years…
I think moo and brew was on main and 75th or 76th. Yes, it’s a fruit store with groceries too. I think owned by Russian Jews.
do you mean grand union?
I don’t know who read the stories… who was Mrs young?
I loved the movies in the library 1x a week in the summer! They were played on wheels. Sometimes the wheels would break and the movie would stop in the middle.

Yes, Grand Union!
Mrs. Young was the librarian at BY.
I haven't lived in KGH for years either. You have a great memory!
Remembers when Brach's was a tiny store on the corner? And Shimon's counter was in the front, and pizza cost $0.75 a slice?

I loved Gafni's! Such as nice Israeli family. I remember buying Barbies and school supplies there.
And Paper Palace! Right next to Ramat Gan! Also nice Israelis.

I'm 57 - I remember going to Gafni's after school on the first day of school to get school supplies. Does that make sense - today we do this way in advance. I remember Grand Union and Benjis and Shimon's and Baskin Robbins on the corner. I haven't lived there in more than 35 years.

I think that’s where we all bought our school supplies.. I don’t remember any other place.
They gave out the school supply list on the first day of school. It’s not like how it is now that it gets mailed in the summer.

I lived there for 12.5 years starting in 2001. We went back to visit and so much has changed (even in the last few years we were there).
Like Brachs closing and Wasserman's moving across the street. Kessina Farms closing and opening as Aarons Kessina Farms. Dougies closed and opened as a russian store, etc.
But I can't believe Shimon's closed!!!!

Town variety!!! This brings back memories of the horse in front of the store when I was a kid. I used to beg my mother for a nickel to get a horse ride.
I remember the rolls of tablecloths and contact paper.
I didn’t know it’s not Naomi’s pizza anymore. Their pizza was really good!
