We've done scranton both as couple and with family. It's great to have both attractions and feom community within close proximity. The trolley and train museum unfortunately wherent the greatest hit with our pre teens and up . Lakawana coal mine was amazing and enjoyed by all ages, we then had picnic and time in playground too

For older kids, I'd say the coal mine is a must, and if you're willing to drive, Knoebels is really fun for the whole family. There's also bowling/arcades.

My kids always loved steamtown. It's a train museum. Since it's a national park, ask a ranger for their junior ranger booklet. Kids go thru steamtown and answer questions in the book. At the end, they give it in and get a ranger badge.

Claws and paws wild animal park is about 25 minutes away.

Knoebels is great! An hour and a quarter away.

An amusement park that is very fun and affordable. You can pay per ride or choose to pay one price.
