no never
trying hard to think of some out there possibility...
think it is quite unrealistic
and I am not naive about issues within families and litigation
a mother....? extremely unlikely unless like she had some personality disorder then maybe or a history of abuse chas v shalom something really extreme
unfortunately sibs I would have to believe possible R"L
sadly people can get very litigious and angry over money

The story in the ami was so sad. I don’t think the mother did the right thing but she really had her hands tied behind her back
She tried her best. It’s an impossible situation
All I could think was, that poor poor mother

while she is under tremendous pressure and I feel for anyone in that position
she does indeed have a choice
as do we all
some are harder than others
and we are always responsible for our decisions

and...anyone should first ask a rov
and get a good therapist for guidance in such a situation particularly with these ongoing chronic dynamics

I did not read the story so I am only responding to the subject title.

My father used to take me to court with him if he had a ticket and wanted to fight it (speeding, etc.). It was horrible when I was a kid. He'd say I was his good luck charm because he always got out of the ticket if I came. He did not take me out of school, but if I was home sick, he'd make me go with him (imagine a little kid with a fever and vomiting, sitting in the court room). It happened a handful of times.

I’m so sorry!! I actually didn’t read your full post and now I did.
I thought it was a joke because the story was about actually taking your child to court, as in suing them.
It was clear that this was in reference to that story, I thought you were making a clever play on words and didn’t fully read your response

I’m truly sorry for the trauma you went through as a child

So this story was about a mother who took her kids to court over a disagreement over money? I find it chilling. I'd love to say unrealistic but sadly I've seen worse.
When I saw your title I was going to answer based on that. As a kid I was always fascinated over the courtroom scene. I would have loved to watch a trial as long as it wasn't a murder one.

No. The son received an inherented from his grandfather but he was mentally unstable abs would have been taken advantage by new friends and would have blown through it.
Mom tried to stop that and protect him from himself
