Where are you located?

You will need a referral from a foot doctor to see an orthopedic specialist who can fit them for you.

Maybe start with your local clinic.

They need to be custom.
That's how it works.

I think I tried everything out there lol.

Depends what you’re trying to solve. I did get custom insoles awhile ago & wore them for awhile but didn’t like the way I walked in them & felt they put too much pressure on other parts of my feet/legs.

Now I feel that what works best for me is a good, comfortable pair of closed shoes that I walk well in along with a gel insole for plantar fasciitis. To me personally, something with cushioning works as a shock absorber so my feet & especially my arches will be protected + arch support that doesn’t take away from that cushioning (ie by being too hard).

There are not custom ones. Dicks may even have some you can try. I think the brand is super feet. But many of the over-counter ones fit into sneakers and a lot harder too fit into dress shoes

I wear these..

A physical therapist told me to get the green ones, as my feet are very flat and need good arch support. He said there is no magic to them, just try the different colors and see what feels better.

My son’s orthopedist told me to try Treadlabs insoles. She says they are better than custom for most people. Not cheap but way less than custom and you get them in a few days! My son has done really well with them.
Even my husband who always used custom now switched to tread labs and finds no difference

superfeet or treadlabs, has anyone tried both and can say which they like better? Are they both trimmable to fit the shoe?

I also need it for flat feet and for support when I'm on my feet a lot. What gel insole do you use that's comfortable?

We were told to go to Roadrunner Sports. They do semi-custom, on the spot. You walk on a treadmill to show your gait, get your feet scanned by a machine, and then stand on a thing that molds the orthotic to your feet. All of this for maybe 80ish dollars- you only pay for the orthotics, not the whole evaluation. And then you're in their computer and can just order more whenever.

I'm having such a hard time finding shoes.

When I was an early teen with flat feet & cramps in my arches I was advised to buy orthotics with arch supports, which I did AND to do a certain exercise every day: hold a pencil with my toes in each foot and walk around for 10 min. It was difficult in the beginning but I feel it did help strengthen my arches, though I still have flat feet to this day.

As far as insoles I bought many different types of cheap ones. It’s good both to experiment & too have ones in every shoe. The best ones were $9 in Burlington - gel soles and 3/4 of the foot so they were 1 size. I also bought Workhero - good arches but not soft.
I bought very thin Dr Fisher ones so I could wear slip-ons sometimes. They’re not as good, but definitely way better than nothing.
I also have a heel spur, which comes after many years of flat feet - that’s why the gel is such a lifesaver.

Any recommendations for type of shoes that a 13yr old would accept to wear for school?
She has custom orthotics that don't seem to make much difference and they don't fit in most shoes!

I like pedag brand
They have different kinds depending on what you need
It was recommended to me by a PT
Quite economical, BUT you need to change them every 4 months if you use daily.

I’ve had very expensive custom ones but I like amazon ones much better. I literally ordered ten different ones and kept the ones I like best. It’s helpful to have a bunch of pairs to leave in the shoes so u don’t have to always switch.
Also I discovered these amazing stick on arches it’s just the arch part and I just put them in every single pair, even slippers. For my flatter painful foot I double up and put two stick on arch gels.

Here’s the link they have been life changing!!!!!!!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082.....ss_tl

Reason I love is because even the most delicate ballet slipper I can still fit these into.
