responsible for damages, legally? We bought a brand new fridge, looked like it was working. The next day all the items were room temperature we had to throw out a lot of food. Is the manufacturer of the appliance responsible legally to reimburse in the US? We bought from an appliance store that is Jewish.

Appliances come with a one year warranty from the manufacturer.

Stores usually help you get the appliances serviced.

I'm not referring to the actual appliance that was replaced, but to the large amount of food that we had to throw out because the fridge was defective.

Neither is responsible legally.

The store doesn’t warrant what it sells

If you read yiur warranty, they generally exclude consequential damages which in your case would be spoiled food. Warranties are generally for replacement or repair.

Was the refrigerator cold when you put the food in?

Most home and renters insurance policies cover the cost of spoiled food from malfunctioning fridge/freezers WITHOUT requiring you to pay any deductible. Check your policy.

It was late in the day it seemed like it was working. So I thought that overnight it stopped, but most likely it wasn't working to begin with.

Thanks but I don't know if it's worth going through.
