I am looking for hight interest books for an older kid who is reading at 2-3 grade level. Girl. Super super clean books. Preferably on the shorter side. Could be a chapter book.

Really hard to find!

Thanks!

My second grader started reading Heidi Hecklebwck books. The reading level is perfect for her.
Was going to post to ask for more series on this level.

Ooh, these are great for an older kid and around the right level.

The Zack and Zoe mysteries are good if she's into mysteries and sports. Or A to Z mysteries.

Zoey and Sassafrass is a great series if she finds science interesting, but it has some fantasy mixed in.

Dragon Masters is definitely high interest if she'll go for fantasy.

If she likes animals, that are some great series like The Critter Club.

You could also try Daisy Meadows' books, about fairies.

Amelia Bedelia books (not the picture books we read as kids, the chapter book versions about her as a kid).

Does she have any specific interests? And exactly how old is she?

Hi. So I actually asked for second grade level but high interest for an older child and my thread got kind of hijacked. Would you mind, which if any would be interesting for an older kid too. Thanks!

sorry didn’t mean to hijack the thread. I posted for your daughter- I think Heidi Hecklebeck could be for older kids, my fifth grader likes it too- it’s about a girl who’s a witch?
And I think the other poster was posting for your daughter too, second grade level but high interest for older kids also

My daughter is in 3rd grade, so I’m guessing younger than your child, so I’m not sure if any of these would be applicable but she reads
Cam Jansen
Magic Treehouse
Jigsaw Jones

Mister Lister
Penina Farina
Mrs. Make a Mentch

I’m sure others I’m just not remembering their names...
Magic Treehouse and Jigsaw Jones I am not so familiar with in terms of if clean, we only have a few of those and I looked through first.

I got great advice once from a teacher when my child had difficulty learning reading. On a reading level he was on a very low level, but intellectually he was on a regular level. And he really didn't appreciate practicing reading short chapter books. They were too babyish for him So this teacher recommended that he listened to audiobooks. This way he gets enriched from the books, and doesn't lose out on all that knowledge. He still needed practice reading, so we ended up settling on graphic novel for him to read because those were easier.

Here are series my daughter read around second grade (you can check reading levels on the scholastic website, I can't quite remember what she read when, some may be high interest for a more advanced reader) that she really enjoyed and I personally read at least 1-3 books in each series myself to ensure they are appropriate (I can't vouch for every book in every series here). In no particular order:
-Magic Faraway Tree series by Enid Blyton
-Adventures of Sophie Mouse
-Isadora Moon
-Princess in Black
-Ballet Slippers by Patricia Reilly Giff
-The Worst Witch
-Jewel Kingdom
-Candy Fairies
-Rainbow Magic
-Unicorn Magic
-Magic Animal Friends
-Cobble Street Cousins
-Mercy Watson
-Unicorn Princesses
-Daisy Dawson
-Mrs. Noodlekugel
-Kitty by Paula Harrison
-Flat Stanley
-Magic School Bus chapter books
-Mrs. Piggle Wiggle
-Jada Jones
-Rescue Princesses
-Zoey and Sassafrass
-Secret Kingdom by Rosie Banks
-Fairy Unicorns by Zanna Davidson
-Bella Donna
-Pippi Longstocking
-Never Girls by Kiki Thorpe
-Polly Diamond
-Mia Mayhem
-Diary of an Ice Princess
-Wild Fairies
-Fairy Realm by Emily Rodda
-Jim Henson's Enchanted Sisters
-Zoe's Rescue Zoo
