Looking for advice

I have lots of sweaters that say to lay flat to dry.
If I hang them, I ruin them because of the shape of the hanger.
But when laying flat on a bed, they take a long time to dry and sometimes smell like they were wet too long...

What's your method for drying sweaters?

I dry everything on extra low heat and I have yet to ruin anything. Hang drying takes too long. The only thing I use regular heat for is towels and bedding. Everything else is the lowest setting on the dryer.

Do you mean a flat drying rack with lots of rows of wire or rods?
You out the sweater out flat of folded over the bar like a pair of pants?

Yes, folded over a rod.

Thank you

It doesn't give it a funny crease?

Most do just fine, my drying rack also has a few thicker rods on the outside that I use for more delicate sweaters.

So I got creative and lay the sweaters flat on child proof gates * that I had but no longer had use for...I lie it flat either on something or between two chairs. I took the instructions literally so I dont hang but lie flat. A well vented room does best.
* something similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Regalo-.....;th=1

I just bought myself this as a present recently. We had a much smaller one, but it broke, and with my girls getting older we really needed something bigger:

This is the kind we had for many years, more or less.

I lay the sweater flat on a towel spread over a drying rack. You could even use a window screen or wire refrigerator or oven shelf placed across the backs of two chairs or across the bathtub. You want air circulation from above and below.

I don’t drape them over one rod. I’d drape one across the top. Then I’d drape another across one of the outer rods and one of the inner rods of that drying rack. Does that make sense? I think they dry faster and better that way.

We have something like this. I’m sure we didn’t pay that much for what we have but it’s something very similar.

But I wouldn’t drape a delicate sweater over just one rod.

The ladies in my bungalow colony said they got small dehumidifiers and keep them near the drying rack- apparently it reduces the drying time a lot.
Never tried it though.
