I once made 9 years ago and keep trying to get back to that amount but I just can’t!

5lb of flour?
I use one 1.5kg bag of flour, one square of yeast. It makes 3 big challas, and 2 small challa rolls which I give to my in laws.
Depends how big you make them for what size family! My dh and kids love my challa hence why I make them big

It depends on the size of your family and or guests
When I was younger, I could probably get in 9 challos, but that because we were so few people at the seudah... Now we're more BH.

It depends on how much challah you go through per seuda.
I weigh may dough so they are all the same size, I use to make each challah 300 grams when I saw we would always finish I went up to 400grams, now I do 360 grams and usually left with 2 or 3 slices each meal. 2 adults 3 kids.
I use 2 kilo of flour, 4.4lb.
For me this makes 6 challahs, 6 150 grams rolls for seuda shalishit and usually a very small amount of dough if the kids what to make challah. For me this is 3 weeks if we don't have guests

I usually only get 4!
and maybe 2-3 small rolls...
if I make more rolls or give my kids some dough, I only get 3...

I make my challah really big. I have big challah eaters so we go thrive a lot at each meal. It's easier for me to make fewer large ones than more small ones. I make approximately 6lbs of flour and ussally get 4 challahs, sometimes 5 if I make them each a little smaller.

I get five challos plus a couple small rolls from six lbs flour. I weigh the dough, 28-30 oz.

I make about 12 but I usually only do 2-3 whole loaves, for when we host, and the rest smaller. It's just me, my husband, and a one-year-old so they don't need to be very large.

Currently, I do 8 (or 6+12 rolls). I used to do more, but decided slightly bigger tasted better.

I use the 3# disposable ‘challah’ pans (the football shaped ones). My challahs fill them & often slightly mushroom over the top.
